Trending Flower Colours for Christmas 2024

If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to order your Christmas flowers. Flowers make the ultimate Christmas decoration. Because they’re fresh and vibrant. Many are a symbol of renewal and hope – which is perfect for the season. And a good percentage are scented, so they bring a new dimension to the celebrations. But it’s not always easy to decide which colour combinations to go for in your floral arrangements. So, let’s have a look at this Christmas’ trending flower colours.

The Top Five Trending Christmas Flowers for 2024

Moody maroon

Red is the traditional colour of Christmas. But this year, we’re seeing a move away from the bright, jolly reds, and the embracing of something darker. We’re looking at the maroon and burgundy of a good glass of red wine. Whether it takes the form of roses, chrysanthemums, or lilies, it’s definitely one of the prevailing colours of the season. Especially when combined with deep green.

Perfect plum

Continuing the deep, rich, and velvety theme, and taking it to a slightly darker level, we have plum. Plum coloured flowers – chrysanthemum, gerbera, dahlias – look almost edible, especially when off-set with softer pinks. Giving the impression of luxuriousness and warmth, this is a welcoming and opulent choice for any Christmas table or sideboard.

Pretty pink

Breaking entirely with tradition, the pink colour scheme is new for Christmas ’24. But we think it’s really rather wonderful. You can go for the softer pinks and pastels. Or the more vibrant hues, reminiscent of Barbicore. Either way, when paired with gold and champagne highlights, you have a floral arrangement that is effervescent and joyful. And really, what more could you wish for at Christmas time?

Amazing apricot

We’re not seeing apricot flowers as this year’s show-stoppers – perhaps more’s the pity. But they are definitely featuring as a pleasing counterbalance to many of the deeper shades. Apricot roses (and dried oranges) add a soft pop of lightness that helps the darker shades reveal their true depth and beauty. And when blended with pinks and lighter tones, they bring warmth and an inviting softness.

Charming cream

Cream coloured roses are often overlooked in favour of their brighter counterparts. But associated with thoughtfulness, luxury, and charm, they make the perfect choice for a Christmas display. While, like apricot, cream off-sets the deeper shades and complements the light, if arranged well, it also holds its own alone. Add in some gold or champagne highlights, or a bed of deep green, and you have an incomparable Christmas display.

The flowers you choose for your Christmas display should always be personal. So, although we have a dedicated Christmas shop, bursting with this year’s trends, we’re also available for bespoke Christmas flower orders. Simply tell us your colour scheme and we’ll do the rest!
