The Best Spring Blooms to Brighten Your Easter

Flowers and Easter are almost synonymous. Slap bang in the middle of spring, Easter is a celebration always welcomed with a froth of early blooms. After the dull greyness of winter, who could resist the allure of such pure and simple beauty? And while the natural world is going wild, it seems a shame not to bring some of that splendour into your home. So, what are the best flowers to decorate your home this Easter?

Our Favourite Spring Flowers for Easter Displays

Gerberas

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again; gerberas are simply happy flowers. Bright and cheerful, and available in a range of gorgeous hues – yellow, pink, orange, red, and all varieties of pastel – gerberas can’t help but lift the spirits.

Daffodils

There’s nothing fancy about the humble daff. They’re ubiquitous throughout March and April. But that doesn’t stop them from being really quite stunning. They may have a limited colour palette, ranging from pure white, to yellow and orange, but they come in so many combinations and sizes, that they can make a spectacular show for a modest budget. And when you take time to stop and look at an individual daffodil, you’ll see that it is a thing of beauty.

Iris

The iris is another one of those flowers that make the spring garden sing. They’re special because we don’t have them for long, their flowering season short-lived. But they do work wonderfully well as part of a cut floral arrangement. With rich colours and iconic form, they bring exoticism, elegance, and style.

Clematis

Most people don’t consider climbers like clematis as suited to indoor floral arrangements. But with the right care, some varieties can flower for as much as a fortnight once cut. And they can add real elegance and interest to a display. With different species flowering at different times of year, it’s possible to find a clematis for almost any occasion – including Christmas and Easter.

Tulips

April is the time when tulips start to do their thing in the UK. And it is at this time that it’s easy to see why the 17th-century ‘tulip fever’ came about. There are so many different types of tulip, from the tiny and dainty, to the big, bold, and blousy, and the downright bizarre, that it’s impossible not to find a variety you love. And they’re available in one of the widest arrays of colour within the plant kingdom. They will bring joy to any Easter table.

Roses

We might be biased, but we can’t think of a single occasion where roses aren’t appropriate. And for Easter, you have a whole host of choices. You can go for the soft whites and creams to symbolise the purity of rebirth. You’ve got the vibrant yellows and oranges to celebrate the joie de vivre of spring. Or pinks, purples, and reds to suit your own personal colour preference. Long-lasting once cut, roses always make an impressive and pretty display.

Flowers and Easter go hand-in-hand. Celebrating a new season, and new life, far more fittingly than chocolate, a floral arrangement makes a wonderful Easter gift, and brings colour and joy to the home. What flowers will you feature on your Easter table?
