Five Must-Have Flowers for Your Easter Table

With the theme of rebirth and renewal, spring and Easter are the perfect partners. In out opinion, there’s no better time of year for flowers, because they’re fresh and new. Spring even beats summer, with all its opulence, simply because it’s such a relief to see colour after the winter’s grey. And an Easter family get together is the perfect way to celebrate the new season. But what flowers should you choose for your Easter table?

Five Easter Floral Favourites

Tulips

Nothing says spring quite like tulips. Whether alone, or in an arrangement like the Spring Trending, their distinctive, elegant, flowers have long been an Easter staple. Not least because they’re available in such a wide range of colours - there were more than 3,000 registered varieties at the last count! And that makes them really versatile. They can provide a vibrant pop where you want it, with yellows and burning red. Or you can find cool white and green blooms for a chic, minimalist look.  But for us, this season, we’re favouring the pastel shades, using blush pink and soft apricot to create a delicate welcoming look for Easter.

Daffodils

Daffodils are synonymous with spring. Among the first flowers to bloom after the harshness of winter, they are always a welcome sight. And their association with new beginnings makes them a natural choice for Easter celebrations. Their sunny yellow, orange, and white blooms instantly brighten any table, and they can be a really cost-effective way to make an impactful display. While you can integrate daffodils into mixed arrangements, you have to “condition” them first, removing the toxic sap that can cause other flowers to wilt. So, our preference is to simply group daffodils together in a large vase or a series of smaller vases. And let them bring the sunshine.

Gerbera and germini

Gerbera and germini will forever be florist favourites because they’re just so appealing. In the brighter colours, their bold, open faces instantly draw the eye, even in larger arrangements. But if you prefer pastel perfection, gerbera and germini can still deliver. Lighter tones, like peach, blush, or lemon bring subtlety and style, while still adding volume to any Easter bouquet.

Roses

Summer is most commonly associated with roses, but there are many coming into bloom right now, and they don’t have to be saved for romantic occasions. Depending on your tastes, you can choose the bold and blousy or the soft and buttery shades for your Easter table. They both bring texture, depth, and colour. And, of course, most roses carry scent, helping to fill your home with essence of spring.

Hyacinths

If you’re looking for fragrance, hyacinths have to be the go-to for Easter. They’re big and bold, and an absolute powerhouse of scent. So much so that it doesn’t take many to fill a room. So, we usually recommend only having one or two in a cut arrangement, or opting for a small spring flower bowl that you can pop in the garden when the flowers have died back. That said, because they’re available a whole variety of colours, from soft purples, to vibrant pinks, whites, blues, and even blacks, hyacinths make a great choice as part of a larger, central table piece.

Flowers have to be a part of Easter. It should be written into law! And while there are other Easter flowers to celebrate, these are the ones that we feel truly capture the essence of spring. So, whether you choose just one of them or combine all five for your Easter table, you can be certain of a stunning display.

And don’t forget, if you are looking for a one-of-a-kind Easter flower arrangement, Blue Florist is here to help. Get in touch.
